Backstory: “Trickle charging is wrecking our routine”

We got a call from a family in Newport who’d just taken delivery of a Tesla. For a few weeks they’d been plugging into a standard power point at night, but the slow trickle charge meant they were waking up to a half-charged car and reshuffling the morning school/work run. They wanted a faster, safer, tidy solution that just worked, and worked quickly!

Site Check & Findings

• Existing switchboard had spare capacity for a dedicated EV circuit.
• Identify a mounting location that was suitable for where the car would be parked
• Home Wi-Fi reached the carport (good for app features and future updates).

Our Solution

We supplied and installed a Tesla Gen 3 Wall Connector on a dedicated circuit, set the correct breaker/output during commissioning, and connected it to the home Wi-Fi for updates and app features. This means they could now get the maximum charging speed for their car and meant they no longer had to rely on slow mobile chargers or stopping in at SuperChargers.

Commissioning & Handover

Once the Wall Connector showed a solid green light in the installer checks, we registered it to the client’s Tesla app so they can view charging history and set charging schedules to suit their off-peak plan and needs
